Situated on the southwest coast of Corfu and 32km south of Corfu Town and the airport. This is a lovely resort with a super beach and makes a good base for exploring the rest of the island.

Cultural tours and ancient sites are all very interesting, but if all you want is a battery-charging break of sun, sea and sand …holidays in St. George South have it in spades. From the two long, long beaches to the easy tempo, this resort is a deep sigh of contentment.

Families love St. George South. Holidays here give the youngsters more sand than any castle could need, and a shallow shelving water's edge for paddles and builders' bucket filling. There are karaoke bars - where teens could join in (or cringe when their parents do). You could hire bikes and cycle to Lake Korrison lagoon.

But you don't need a child in tow to enjoy this laid-back place. Couples have just as much going for them on summer holidays to St. George South. The two beaches, one backed by cliffs - the other by rolling dunes, form a huge sun-soaking space. If you want a spot of watersports and the comfort of a sun-bed, they're here. But you only have to saunter along the sands for a quieter place to snooze. And the road that runs behind the bay is liberally sprinkled with bars and tavernas, beachwear and gift shops. The Dora Studios may be right up your street too - at the heart of the resort.
