Korakiana Holidays

Unhurried. Unspoilt. And as pretty as they come. Arriving in Korakiana is like taking a step back in time. We're talking traditional Greek architecture. Whitewashed houses. And a pace so laid-back it's horizontal. Peeking out from an olive-clad hillside, this sleepy village, backed by emerald-coloured trees and a couple of friendly tavernas, is the perfect spot to escape the modern world. The views are worth shouting about, too. You can see most of Corfu's eastern side, with vistas over cushiony-green hills carpeted with olive groves and fruit orchards. Even the Albanian mountains, which are sometimes snow-dusted, are visible in the distance. When you're not relaxing on the beautiful beach, head up into the village itself. Spilt into two sister areas, you'll find plenty to interest you here. Ano Korakiana is the larger of the two and sits in the upper part of the village at the foot of Small Pantocrator, which is part of the Pantocrator mountain range. Extravagantly pretty, it's renowned for its gorgeous Venetian architecture. And with just a sprinkling of shops, it really feels like the end of the line here. Kato Korakiana on the other hand, sits closer to the serene shores. Here, you'll find a selection of villas and apartments in addition to a supermarket, a couple of tavernas and two restaurants. There are also a number of hotels in the nearby resort of Dassia. Wherever you head, Korakiana is the kind of place that once you've discovered it, it'll be difficult to holiday anywhere else again.
