Dassia Holidays

'A sun-loving, fun-loving mix of lazy days on the beach finished with enjoyable nightlife, Dassia is today's Corfu at its best.'

Fun-loving beach holidays are what Dassia's all about. Situated a few miles north of Corfu Town, it's a popular, spread-out resort, whose focal point is an excellent shingle beach with to-die-for views.

By day, the purpose of life here is to lounge in the sun, taking intermittent swims in the calm waters. When the midday heat approaches, retire to the shade cast by the leafy olive trees bordering the length of the beach. Armed with a coolbag of fresh bread, feta, tomatoes and some still-cold drinks, you'll have your own private picnicking spot. When you can work up some energy, take to a wooden jetty to plunge into the deep waters, or try your hand at the many watersports plied here. A hotspot for white-knuckle versions like parascending and waterskiing, Dassia offers something wet and wild. And when you're finally ready for something different, try a pony-trek inland to sample old Corfu, or hire your own boat to seek out a deserted nearby cove.

Back home, end the day on the beachfront road over a meal of spicy pastitsada or fish cooked in garlic at a sociable taverna. Afterwards, time a round of Metaxas for when the sun sets in the horizon. If you're up for a late night, Dassia offers plenty of music spots to keep you from your bed. And if you want to crank up the pace - the party-loving resort of Ipsos is just a cab ride away.

Dassia is popular with couples and groups of friends who want a little bit of nightlife and a lot of atmosphere. There are many bars, tavernas and a couple of discos, playing anything from traditional Greek folk songs to the latest chart hits. Don't forget to pack your dancing shoes. You won't go hungry in Dassia - there are a good selection of eateries to keep you satiated including an abundance of pizzerias and snack bars. A regular bus service runs along the coast, and taxis are easily available to take you into the lively neighbouring resorts of Gouvia or Ipsos after dark.

Holidays in Dassia are full of life; the town has gradually developed into one of Corfu's most popular resorts and it is easy to see why. Water skiing is popular and, for many, riding a huge inflatable banana towed by a speedboat is one of the highest giggle factors of holidays in Dassia. Or you could simply hire a boat and sail along the coast in search of your own, private cove.

There are any number of bars and restaurants - even an English pub - the clubs are hot and chilled, at one and the same time, and hotels like the Corfu Chandris and the Grecotel Daphnila Bay Thalasso offer a warm welcome to visitors.
