Sitting in a secluded croissant-shaped bay on Corfu's north-west coast, this pretty resort has a long sweep of cashmere-soft sands that sink into bright-blue seas. It's the perfect spot for kicking back and shaking off life's everyday stresses. And when the going gets hot on the shores, a sprinkling of family-run tavernas and bars are ready to serve you with ice-cold beer and fresh fish dishes. If all this doesn't sound like the perfect authentic Greek getaway, then we don't know what does. And these aren't the only reasons why Aghios Georgios North should top your list if you're looking for some lazy Greek beach life. How about the fact that because it's largely off the main tourist trail, it's delightfully serene? That the only sounds on the sands come from the gentle rustle of the olive trees? Or that whilst the immaculate sands are perfect for families, the afternoon breezes are idyllic for windsurfing? The list goes on and on. If you fancy getting out and about, why not hire a canoe and paddle out to the local caves? Or hop on a cruise boat and go and admire the picture book scenery of nearby Paleokastritsa? And even if they don't inspire your interest, there's still the option of buses into Corfu Town or walking along the peaceful peninsula where you can bag a bird's eye view of the bay you've left behind. When the sun has set, the evenings here go at an equally slow pace. You'll find a few laid-back discos if you fancy donning your dancing shoes, though most people are more than happy to simply linger over a leisurely slap-up meal. For a change of scene though, hail a cab to nearby Sidari for a full-on choice of nightspots. However you spend your time here, this good looking slice of Corfu is a definite must-go.

Watersports are available including boat and canoe hire - you can even try your hand at windsurfing. It's also a great base should you want to see a little more of the island - Corfu Town, Sidari and tiny, remote villages are all within driving distance.
